For visitors to the Sailor Group Laboratory and the UC San Diego MRSEC Materials Characterization Facility
Our laboratories and offices are located on the UC San Diego main campus in Pacific Hall, 9301 Scholars Dr. South, at the intersection of Scholars Drive South and La Jolla Shores Drive in La Jolla, California:

Set the destination to “9301 Scholars Dr. South” in your rideshare app. It may alternately show up as “UC San Diego Pacific Hall” or “Revelle Plaza”. Pacific Hall is a 6-story building with blue window awnings (building 111 on the UCSD map)
Driving Directions:
By car, the UCSD campus in La Jolla is about 25 minutes north of downtown San Diego; 20 minutes north of the San Diego airport (airport code SAN); 30 minutes south of Oceanside, CA; 1 hour south of the UC Irvine campus, and 3 hours south of Los Angeles International Airport (airport code LAX).
Enter “UC San Diego Pacific Hall” in Google Maps or the Apple Maps app for directions. Pacific Hall is a 6-story building with blue window awnings (building 111 on the UCSD map)
Parking lots near Pacific Hall:
Due to current construction (July 2024), the closest parking to Pacific Hall is the parking structure to the north of Pacific Hall, beneath the Sixth College Place and Market (enter “Sixth College Place and Market” in your app). It is entered from Muir College Drive, off N Torrey Pines Road. Park in a Visitor Parking spot in that structure (labeled “V”). Pay for these spots via the ParkMobile app on your smart phone.
By Trolley:
We are on the Blue line of the San Diego MTS Trolley system. From the south (airport, downtown San Diego, etc), take the blue line toward UTC, exit at the UC San Diego Central Campus stop. Head west, Pacific Hall is a 20 minute walk from the stop.

A “Curio” hotel in the Hilton Hotels chain. It takes a government rate. Has a restaurant+bar at the top with ocean and sunset views. A short walk to local restaurants and the beach.

Housing and Apartments for long-term visitors:
Note due to fraudulent housing offers, it is advised that you DO NOT TRY TO FIND HOUSING IN THE SAN DIEGO/LA JOLLA AREA BASED ON AN INTERNET SEARCH. Prior visitors to our lab have tried to arrange their housing this way and they have lost a few thousand dollars to a fraudulent housing advertisement. The scams usually ask for a “security deposit” by credit card or wire transfer, then once they have your money they disappear.
Off-campus: A legitimate source of off-campus housing information for UCSD affiliates is available at: https://offcampushousing.ucsd.edu/
On-campus housing can be arranged through UC San Diego’s Housing, Dining, and Hospitality (HDH) group. These are several options that UC San Diego provides for faculty and student visitors, both during the summer (in the UC San Diego dormitories) or year-round.
